The Scottish Terrier Emergency Care Scheme (STECS) – Registered Charity Number 275666 – was founded in 1976 by the late Nellie Holland.
STECS, whose aim is to provide new homes for Scottish Terriers in need, is the Scottish Terrier Breed Rescue scheme for the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. STECS is a voluntary organisation, with helpers throughout the country.
Throughout the year different fundraising activities take place.
STECS also raises funds to help needy dogs through the online sale of Scottie merchandise. They have many Scottie items which are exclusive to STECS including specially commissioned Christmas cards and a 2011 calendar featuring rescued Scotties. The merchandise is very reasonably priced and is usually cheaper than buying the equivalent in a retail shop or elsewhere online. STECS are happy to ship overseas. The STECS Scottie merchandise can be found on the following link: http://www.stecs.net/shop/shop.html
The main annual social event is the STECS Garden Party which usually takes place in August and is held in Bretherton. The Garden Party in 2011 was held on Saturday 13th August at Rydings Barn, North Road, Bretherton, Lancashire PR26 9AY - by kind permission of Cath and Steve Marchbank. See map for location.
